Dr Patrick Lyons is a vascular specialist who has held numerous hospital appointments as a Consultant in Vascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery including Head of Vascular Surgery at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Dr Lyons has a particular interest in the treatment of venous disease notably varicose vein disorders. He is an expert in all vein treatment technologies including surgery, laser, radiofrequency and injection (sclerotherapy) techniques. Dr Lyons graduated with First Class Honours from Melbourne University and is a longstanding Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in the discipline of Vascular Surgery. As well as an examiner for the College of Surgeons he is also a Fellow of the Australasian College of Phlebology and a Fellow of the American College of Phlebology.
Dr Lyons as a Vascular Surgeon has extensive experience and expertise in the surgical treatment of Varicose Veins but he has also developed a special interest in the non-surgical treatment of Varicose Veins. Dr Lyons is an accredited provider of Ultrasound Imaging and performs his own Ultrasound scans. He has been a pioneer in Australia in non-surgical Ultrasound Guided Varicose Vein treatments, including Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy and Ultrasound Guided catheter procedures such as the VNUS Radiofrequency procedure.
